TL;DR

Start Pinterest for a small business by switching to a free business account, claiming your website, creating 5–10 keyword-named boards and posting vertical 2:3 pins that link to useful pages. Check analytics monthly and repeat what drives clicks.

Pinterest users often arrive with intent: they are planning a purchase, a project or an event. That makes it a useful channel for small shops, studios and service businesses.

Week 1: foundations

  • Convert to a free business account to get analytics.
  • Claim your website so pins from it show your profile.
  • Write a profile description that says what you sell and where.

Week 2: boards

Create five to eight boards around what your customers search for, not around your internal product names. A florist might use “Spring wedding bouquets” rather than “Collection 4”.

Weeks 3–4: pins

Make vertical 1000×1500 images (our Pin Creatorresizer helps) with a clear title, and link each pin to the most relevant page on your site. Short videos showing a product in use work well.

Measure

After a month, check which pins earn saves and outbound clicks, and make more like them. Pinterest content has a long life, so judge results over months rather than days.

Printing flyers or packaging? Add a QR code from the QR maker that points to your best board.
