Pinterest shows Pins in a grid of equal-width columns, so the width of your image barely matters but its shape decides how much space it gets. These are the sizes to use today:

Why 2:3 (1000×1500) is the best Pinterest image size
A 2:3 Pin is tall enough to stand out in a column but short enough that Pinterest never trims it. Square images use only two thirds of that space, and very long images get cut at the bottom with a “see more” style crop. If you make one size only, make it 1000×1500.
Pinterest scales every image to the column width, so uploading 2000×3000 does not make the Pin bigger. It can look slightly sharper on high-density screens, but it makes the file larger. 1000×1500 is the sweet spot.

Video Pins accept 1:1, 2:3, 4:5 and 9:16. Vertical 9:16 (1080×1920) fills a phone screen and suits clips made for Reels or Shorts; 2:3 matches image Pins in the grid. Safe zones: where to put text
- Leave about 50 px clear on every edge of a 1000×1500 Pin so nothing important touches the rounded corners.
- On 9:16 Pins, keep text out of the top 270 px and the bottom 400 px, where the app places buttons and the caption.
- Make headline text at least 40 px tall at 1000 px wide so it is readable on a phone.
How to export sharp Pinterest images
- Export at exactly 1000 px wide (or 2000 px for extra sharpness) in sRGB colour.
- Photos: JPG at 80–90% quality. Text, logos and flat graphics: PNG.
- Do not upscale a small picture: a 500 px image stretched to 1000 px will look soft.
- Check the result on a phone before you publish; most Pinterest views are on mobile.
