TL;DR

The most complete backup of your own Pinterest account is Pinterest’s official data request in your privacy settings. For quick copies of public boards, a board downloader saves recent pins as a ZIP. Keep a note of source links with your files.

Accounts get locked, boards get deleted by mistake, and pins disappear when source sites close. If your Pinterest boards matter to you, keep a backup.

Option 1: Pinterest’s data request

In your account settings, privacy and data, you can request a copy of your data. Pinterest emails a download link. It includes account information and a record of your pins, though not always every media file at full size.

Option 2: export public boards

For each public board, use the board downloader. It packs about the 50 most recent pins into a ZIP with a manifest linking each file to its pin. For bigger boards, split them into sections and export each section.

Option 3: individual pins

For your most important videos, use the video downloader to keep the highest-quality MP4 Pinterest stores.

Keep it organised

Name folders by board and date, and keep the manifest file — it tells you where each image came from if you need to re-pin or credit it later.
