TL;DR

To copy a pin link, open the pin and tap Share → Copy link in the app, or copy the address bar on a computer. A working link contains /pin/ followed by a number, or starts with pin.it. Links to search pages or /ideas/ feeds are not single pins.

Almost every “download failed” message starts with the wrong link. Pinterest shows several kinds of URLs — pin pages, search pages, board pages, short links and tracking links — and only some of them point to a single pin. Here is how to grab the right one every time.

In the Pinterest app (iPhone and Android)

  1. Open the pin so it fills the screen. A pin opened from the home feed still counts.
  2. Tap the Share arrow (or the three-dot menu on older app versions).
  3. Choose Copy link. You will see a short confirmation toast.

The app usually copies a pin.it/… short link. That is fine: PinSaveHD expands it to the full address before looking up the media.

In a desktop browser

Click the pin so that its own page opens, then copy the address bar. A correct pin URL looks like pinterest.com/pin/123456789012345678/. If the address contains /search/ or ends in a username, you are on a results page or a profile, not on a pin.

  • Search and home feed URLs — they describe a list, not a pin.
  • Links to secret boards — they require the owner’s login.
  • Links copied from inside a message sometimes carry an invitation token; open the pin first and copy again.
  • Truncated links pasted from a chat preview. Make sure the long number is complete.

For the board downloader you need pinterest.com/username/board-name/; for the profile downloader just pinterest.com/username/. Not sure what a username’s board URL is? The URL finder builds and checks it for you.

Once you have a clean link, paste it into the video downloader or any other tool — the rest takes a few seconds.
